Job summary

Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our inpatient team. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and support nursing staff in daily operations.

You should have a Louisiana CNA certification and BLS, with strong communication and teamwork skills for a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana CNA certification in good standing.
• Current BLS certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
• Prior hospital, long-term care, or healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, mobility).
• Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, intake/output.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and ROM exercises.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
• Document patient care activities in the EMR when applicable.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and hospital safety policies.
• Promote patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to providing exceptional care, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about improving the patient experience. This position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care and support daily nursing operations.

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
• Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output as directed.
• Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Observe and promptly report changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
• Answer patient call lights promptly and respond to patient needs with compassion and professionalism.
• Maintain patient rooms by ensuring cleanliness, safety, and organization.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collect specimens and perform routine patient care tasks as delegated.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, when applicable.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and hospital safety policies.
• Promote patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
• Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT

• Current Louisiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• A fast-paced inpatient healthcare environment caring for patients with a variety of medical needs.
• Twelve-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules based on departmental needs.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and assisting with patient transfers throughout the shift.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
• Ability to safely lift and reposition patients using proper body mechanics and patient handling equipment.
• Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and any applicable health screenings.
