  • Provide patients with receipts and appropriate information regarding registration and financial responsibilities.
  • Assist patients with questions regarding the registration process and hospital services.
  • Direct patients to the appropriate department, clinic, or service area.
  • Answer and appropriately route telephone calls.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, nurses, and other hospital departments.
  • Identify registration, insurance, authorization, or financial concerns and refer them to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
  • Provide professional and compassionate customer service, including during difficult or stressful patient interactions.

  • Follow all hospital policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Position Overview

The Patient Access Associate is responsible for providing professional and courteous service to patients and visitors while completing accurate and timely registration and patient access functions. This position serves as one of the first points of contact for patients and plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience.

The Patient Access Associate will collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information, complete required registration documentation, assist with scheduling and financial processes, and ensure information is accurately entered into the hospital's electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

Greet patients, visitors, and guests in a professional and courteous manner.

Register patients accurately and efficiently for hospital and clinic services.

Collect and verify demographic, insurance, employment, and other required patient information.

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits as required.

Obtain required signatures, consents, identification, and other documentation.

Accurately enter and update patient information in the electronic health record and registration systems.

Review registration information for accuracy and correct discrepancies.
