WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit on the night shift. The ideal candidate has previous ICU experience, strong clinical judgment, excellent critical-thinking skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.


The ICU RN is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, monitoring changes in condition, administering treatments and medications, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.



  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in condition.

  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status, including clinical deterioration and emergencies.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygenation, and other clinical parameters as appropriate.

  • Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and other advanced respiratory support.

  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient care.

  • Respond to rapid response calls, Code Blue events, and other emergency situations as required.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.

  • Monitor laboratory results, diagnostic studies, and other clinical information and communicate significant findings to the appropriate provider.

  • Provide education, emotional support, and communication to patients and their families regarding treatment and plan of care.

  • Participate in patient handoffs and maintain continuity of care between shifts.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.


WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT


  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Current Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

  • Previous Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing experience required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to care for critically ill and medically complex patients.

  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, ventilator patients, and other critical-care interventions preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

WHAT TO EXPECT


  • A fast-paced Intensive Care Unit environment caring for critically ill and high-acuity patients.

  • Twelve-hour night shifts.

  • Schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and assisting with patient transfers throughout the shift.

  • Frequent interaction with patients, families, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, airborne illnesses, and other healthcare-related hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.

  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition, medical emergencies, rapid responses, and Code Blue events.

  • Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and any applicable health screenings.
