Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled welder capable of certifying on multi-process pipe welding, including SMAW, GTAW and GMAW. The role involves laying out, aligning and welding fabricated components to assemble structural forms per blueprints and metallurgy, with potential x-ray qualifications.

The position requires reading plans, selecting appropriate materials, and applying welding techniques across various positions while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe welding (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW).
• Lays out, aligns and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms per blueprints.
• May require x-ray qualities.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding using knowledge of geometry and welding techniques.
• May use multiple welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW).
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
• Welds metal components using arc welding equipment in different orientations.
• Connects cables and adjusts amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified.
• Starts power supply and strikes arc to deposit weld metal.
• Guides electrode or gun along weld-line to form proper depth of fusion.
• Cleans joints, repairs parts, and removes slag and spatter as needed.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials; assists on lifting and securing pieces.
• Observes safety rules and performs other duties as required.
