Job summary

Ovation by Avamere is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to assist residents with medications and basic nursing care under a licensed nurse's supervision. You will ensure correct dosages, observe resident well-being, and maintain thorough documentation.

The role includes shifts (full-time night and evening) at Ovation Sienna Hills, with duties in medication administration, ADLs, safety, and clear communication with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Certified Medication Aide in Skilled Nursing, Memory Care or Assisted Living.
  • Must be a Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the state where this position is held.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Administer oral and topical medications under supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Document medication administration accurately, including dosage and time.
  • Monitor resident well-being and report adverse reactions.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and mobility.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of resident areas.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.

Shifts: Full-time - Night Shift (10pm - 6am); Full-time Evening (2pm-10pm)

Job Summary

Certified Medication Aide (CMA)assists in administering medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring correct dosages, times, and documentation, while also providing basic nursing care and monitoring resident well-being.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Medication Administration:
  • Administer oral and topical medications as prescribed by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Ensure the correct medication, dosage, and time are administered.
  • Document medication administration accurately, including dosage, time, and resident response.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication administration.
  • Report any adverse reactions or side effects to the supervising nurse.
Basic Nursing Care:
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse.
  • Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
Resident Care and Safety:
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
  • Answer residents’ call lights and respond to their needs promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Follow established healthcare standards and practices.
Communication and Documentation:
  • Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.
  • Document resident care and medication administration accurately and thoroughly.
  • Report any changes in resident condition or concerns to the supervising nurse.
Other Duties:
  • May assist with other nursing tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience as a Certified Medication Aide in a Skilled Nursing, Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
  • Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the State this position is held in.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
