Job summary

Ovation Heartwood Preserve in Omaha, NE is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to support Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. You will safely administer medications, collaborate with a licensed nurse, and help maintain a calm, home-like environment.

Rotating full-time and part-time schedules are available, with every other weekend required; training begins Day Shifts; location at 70 Maxwell Plz, Omaha.

Qualifications

• Experience as CMA in Skilled Nursing, Memory Care, or Assisted Living.
• Licensed CMA in the state of employment.
• CPR/First Aid certification active or obtainable.
• Experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Administer oral and topical medications under nurse supervision.
• Document medication administration accurately.
• Maintain medication records and monitor resident responses.
• Assist with activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Ensure safety and respond to call lights promptly.
• Communicate with residents, families, and staff.
• Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.

Shifts Available in Assisted Living:

• Evening (2pm-10pm) - Part-time, to include every other weekend
• NOC (10pm-6am) Shifts - Part-time, to include every other weekend

Shifts Available in Memory Care

• Evening (2pm-10pm) - Part-time

Shifts are available

Schedule: Rotating full-time and part-time schedules; Every other weekend required with rotating holiday schedules

Training/Orientation: 1st week is completed on Day Shifts for training

As a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at Ovation Heartwood, you play a key role in supporting the health, comfort, and daily well-being of our Assisted Living residents. You’ll safely administer medications while building trusted relationships, working closely with the care team, and helping create a calm, supportive environment where residents feel cared for and at home.

Job Summary

Certified Medication Aide (CMA) assists in administering medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring correct dosages, times, and documentation, while also providing basic nursing care and monitoring resident well-being.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Medication Administration:

• Administer oral and topical medications as prescribed by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Ensure the correct medication, dosage, and time are administered.
• Document medication administration accurately, including dosage, time, and resident response.
• Maintain accurate records of medication administration.
• Report any adverse reactions or side effects to the supervising nurse.

Basic Nursing Care:

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
• Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse.
• Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.

Resident Care and Safety:

• Ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
• Answer residents' call lights and respond to their needs promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Follow established healthcare standards and practices.

Communication and Documentation:

• Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.
• Document resident care and medication administration accurately and thoroughly.
• Report any changes in resident condition or concerns to the supervising nurse.

Other Duties:

• May assist with other nursing tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.
• Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience as a Certified Medication Aide in a Skilled Nursing, Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
• Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the State this position is held in.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
