Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC d/b/a Avamere Living is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to assist in administering medications under licensed nurse supervision, monitor resident well-being, and provide essential daily care at our Salem location. Responsibilities include medication administration, accurate record-keeping, vital sign monitoring, and clear communication with residents and staff.

CPR/BLS certification is required; prior LTC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Certified Medication Aide license in the state of employment.
  • CPR/BLS certification active during employment required.
  • Experience in long-term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute, or critical care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer oral and topical medications under nurse supervision.
  • Maintain accurate medication administration records and documentation.
  • Provide basic nursing care and monitor resident well-being.
  • Monitor vital signs and report changes to the supervising nurse.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Medication Administration:

Basic Nursing Care:
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse.
  • Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
Resident Care and Safety:
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
  • Answer residents' call lights and respond to their needs promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Follow established healthcare standards and practices.
Communication and Documentation:
  • Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.
  • Document resident care and medication administration accurately and thoroughly.
  • Report any changes in resident condition or concerns to the supervising nurse.
Other Duties:
  • May assist with other nursing tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Licensed Certified Medication Aide in the State this position is held in.
  • Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.
  • Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and or critical care clinical setting.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
