Job Responsibilities
- Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department, ensuring compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines, under the direction of the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
- Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
- Order necessary medication and treatments from the pharmacy or notify the responsible party when supplies are below 7 days.
- Notify the supervisor if supplies are less than 2 days and medications have not been received.
- Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and the MAR, reporting discrepancies to the pharmacy and DH&W.
- Ensure proper storage of medications, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
- Date all vials or bottles upon initial opening and follow pharmacy protocols on usage duration.
- Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
- Compare current MARs with new MARs during changeover and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them to the supervisor.
- Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
- Administer general nursing care such as vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
- Document necessary information in the daily log and report concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist residents with calls and needs as assigned.
- Clean all medicine carts daily at the end of the shift and restock as needed.
- Perform weekly deep cleaning of all medication carts.
- Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
- Ensure all medical charts for new admissions and readmissions are prepared and complete within 48 hours, adhering to policies and regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, or 1-3 months of related experience or training, or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 month of experience; experience in senior living preferred.
- Current Medication Technician certification, as per state regulations.
- Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
