Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Supervise self-administered medication in the Memory Care Department, ensuring compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle guidelines, under the direction of the LPN/LVN/RN or the Director of Health & Wellness.
  2. Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys; report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  3. Order medications and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
  4. Notify supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  5. Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and MARs; report discrepancies to the pharmacy and DH&W.
  6. Ensure proper storage of medications, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  7. Date all vials or bottles upon opening and follow pharmacy protocols on usage duration.
  8. Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
  9. Compare current MARs with new MARs at changeover and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  10. Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them to the supervisor.
  11. Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  12. Administer general nursing care, including vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  13. Document relevant information in the daily log and report concerns to the supervisor.
  14. Assist residents with calls and needs as assigned.
  15. Clean and restock medication carts daily and perform deep cleaning weekly.
  16. Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
  17. Prepare and complete medical charts for new admissions and readmissions, ensuring records are complete within 48 hours, adhering to policies and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or 1-3 months of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination.
  • Minimum of 1 month of experience; experience in senior living preferred.
  • Current Medication Technician certification, depending on state regulations.
  • Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
