Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department, ensuring compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines, under the direction of the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
  2. Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  3. Order necessary medication and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
  4. Notify a supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  5. Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and MARs, reporting discrepancies to the pharmacy and DH&W.
  6. Store medications properly, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  7. Date all vials or bottles at initial opening following pharmacy protocols on usage duration.
  8. Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
  9. Compare current MARs with new MARs during changeovers, reporting any discrepancies to a supervisor.
  10. Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them to a supervisor.
Resident Care Responsibilities
  1. Provide personal care, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  2. Administer general nursing care such as vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  3. Document relevant information in the daily log and report concerns to a supervisor.
  4. Assist residents with calls and needs as assigned.
  5. Clean and restock medication carts daily and perform weekly deep cleaning.
Additional Duties
  1. Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
  2. Maintain accurate records, including preparing medical charts for new admissions and readmissions, ensuring completion within 48 hours per policies and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or 1-3 months related experience or training.
  • Minimum of 1 month experience, preferably in senior living.
  • Current Medication Technician certification, depending on state regulations.
  • Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
