Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Ascension Medical Group Clinic in Zionsville, IN. This full-time urgent care role involves assisting with provider-ordered treatments, interviewing patients, taking vital signs, and handling basic clerical duties and materials management.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, plus Medical Assistant certification/licensure, and BLS within 30 days. Weekend/holiday rotation is possible in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assists with treatments ordered by the provider under supervision by the provider or registered nurse.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, records information on charts; prepares treatment rooms for examination.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions such as ordering and stocking supplies; maintains a clean environment.
• May document the provider's encounter with patients; transcribes orders for labs, radiology, and medications.

• Schedule: Full-time | Days | Varied work schedule - clinic open 7 days per week, will rotate weekends and holidays

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.

• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

• Required Credential(s):

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
