Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under provider supervision in a team-based setting. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, updating medical histories, and assisting with screenings and procedures in a fast-paced clinic.

The position requires an MA certification (NHA/AAMA/AMT/NCCT/AMCA) and CPR. Training in scribing or additional duties may be provided as needed, with occasional travel between AHN locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program Certification Requirements.
• Employees who graduate from a medical assistant program within five years must certify within 120 days of hire.
• Certification through NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT or AMCA is required.
• CPR certification is required or will be completed post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision using a team-based approach.
• Prepare and room patients according to standard workflows.
• Obtain vitals, document patient information and screening data.
• Assist with depression screening tools and wellness visit screenings.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Document social history and update records; manage orders per protocol.
• Perform back office testing and assist with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a medical scribe with additional training.
• Follow up with patients via phone, electronic, or written methods per provider instructions.
• Notify patients of test results; prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies.
• Ensure proper inventory; sterilize instruments; perform lab controls as assigned.
• Document accurately in the EHR; perform clerical duties as needed.
• May float/travel between physician office locations.
