Job summary

UF ECE Ambassadors seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinic operations in Gainesville, FL. The role involves patient communication, clinical support, and EMR documentation within an Interventional Radiology environment.

The ideal candidate will have CMA certification, outpatient experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong coordination skills across imaging and follow-up care. HIPAA compliance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the CMA exam from accredited institute (AAMA, NCCT, AMT, NHA, ARMA).
• Experience in outpatient clinical settings preferred, especially Interventional Radiology, Radiology, or Surgery.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documentation, and EMR systems.
• Experience coordinating patient scheduling, referrals, imaging, and follow-up care in fast-paced healthcare environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, residents and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience assisting with minor procedures, injections, specimen collection, and patient preparation.

Responsibilities

• Answers and triages telephone calls from referring providers, patients, and caregivers using clinical protocols.
• Provides patients with instructions regarding procedures, treatments, medications, and follow-up care; coordinates communication among patients, providers, and clinical staff.
• Assists physicians and staff with outpatient clinic procedures and patient examinations; administers injections and specimen collection as per policy.
• Enters and processes orders in the EMR; maintains accurate patient documentation.
• Coordinates intake, scheduling, and follow-up imaging for Y-90 patients; facilitates admissions and logistics.
