Job summary

UNC Health Care seeks an Medical Assistant I, Certified for the UNC Faculty Physicians Family Medicine Carraway Clinic in Chapel Hill. The role provides routine clinical and administrative support under supervision in an outpatient setting.

Education: Medical Assisting program preferred; MA certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT preferred or required. BLS certification required. Schedule is M-F, 8a-5p; no weekends or holidays; a $7,500 commitment incentive is available.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program; certification preferred but not required.
• MA certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA/NCCT is required or strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake, collects vital signs and data.
• Gathers medical history and social history from patients.
• Reviews current medications and allergies; confirms pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administers medications under provider supervision.
• Performs tests such as EKG and basic eye tests.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and equipment ready.
• Provides after-visit instructions and education materials.
• Assists with patient registration, checks in/out, scheduling tests.
• Answers clinic calls and triages in-basket under supervision.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed by provider.
