Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, NC. You will assist nurses and physicians with procedures, perform general office duties, and connect patients with resources to maintain health and wellbeing.

This full-time, onsite role offers a day schedule (40 hours/week). Ideal candidates hold CMA and BLS certifications (or eligible) and complete the Community Health Worker credential within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of NC Standard Core Competency training for Community Health Workers within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and BLS certifications, with CHW certification within 6 months of hire.
• 2 years of experience in healthcare/medical setting as CMA/CTM.

Responsibilities

• Plans schedule and organizes patient care; assists nurses and physicians with procedures.
• Performs general office duties; connects patients with resources to maintain health and wellbeing.
• Displays professional manner; prioritizes tasks; communicates with patients empathetically.
• Maintains medical records, examination and treatment areas; manages supplies and scheduling.
• Dictates telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy; coordinates referrals and follow-ups.
• Applies aseptic techniques and infection control; sources patient history and vital signs.
