UNC Health Nash is seeking a Medical Assistant/Customer Service Rep to support patient care and clinic operations. You will register patients, manage clerical tasks, coordinate appointments, and communicate with patients and clinical staff throughout the care process.

The role involves EMR scheduling, patient information collection, and coverage for colleagues during absences. High school diploma or GED required, with CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCC NCMA and BLS certifications preferred.

Formación

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCC NCMA) and BLS preferred.
• 2 years in healthcare/medical setting as a Certified Medical Technician (CMT) preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinating and scheduling clinical visits with patients and staff.
• Inputting orders into EMR scheduling system and managing queues.
• Interviewing patients and documenting information in EMR scheduling system.
• Coordinating follow-up appointments and communicating results and instructions to patients.
• Provide coverage for staff absent due to illness, FMLA, or vacation.

Summary

The Medical Assistant/Customer Service Rep is responsible for assisting in providing quality patient care and may have routine interaction and working relationships with patients, family members, physicians, third party payers and other clinic and hospital team members. This position also performs clinic clerical tasks, such as registering patients, relieving staff members of clerical work and minor administrative and business details by scheduling appointments, giving information to callers, reading and routing incoming mail, filing correspondence and other records and other assigned clerical duties. This position will provide coverage for individuals who are off for various reasons (eg. Sick, FMLA, and vacation).

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and clinical staff to coordinate and schedule clinical visits across a range of clinical services.
• Reviews and interprets incoming clinical orders delivered by phone and fax. Inputs orders into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) scheduling system. Reviews automated work queues to guide and prioritize optimization.
• Interviews patients and documents information into EMR scheduling system. Reviews records for accuracy.
• Coordinates follow-up appointments.
• Communicates with patients in a timely and effective manner regarding their care. Notifies patients of results and appointments. Patiently and clearly explains information using cultural competency and active listening.

• Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCC NCMA)
• BLS
