Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Infectious Disease at the South/East sites in Indianapolis. The MA will support providers with patient visits, labs, referrals, and quality outcomes in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The ideal candidate has a medical assisting credential and at least 1 year of MA experience in a physician practice, with EPIC EMR proficiency and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate/certificate in medical assisting OR HS diploma with 1 year MA experience in a physician practice within the past 3 years.
  • MA certification + 1 year of experience required
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas, stock supplies and ensure cleanliness

Responsibilities

  • Assist provider with patient visits and procedures in ambulatory care.
  • Perform routine labs, vital signs, EKGs and specimen collection.
  • Process referrals and medication refills.
  • Document care in EPIC EMR.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers and staff.

Make a Difference

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.

  • Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
  • Medical Assistant certification + 1 year of experience required
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
  • Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
  • Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection

Participate in specialty care and infectious disease processes with sensitivity & compassion

  • Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
  • Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
  • Process referrals and medication refills

Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
