Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant - Palliative Care - Float to support ambulatory sites. You will facilitate patient visits, perform routine labs, process referrals, and help monitor quality outcomes for the practice population.

Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs and EKGs, documenting in EPIC EMR, and ensuring smooth patient flow across facilities in Indianapolis and surrounding areas; travel to Anderson and the North facility is required.

Qualifications

  • Collaborate with others in a team setting and maintain a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas; stock supplies and maintain cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with patient visits and procedures in ambulatory sites.
  • Perform routine lab tests and specimen collection; manage referrals and follow-ups.
  • Obtain vital signs, EKGs, and documentation in the EPIC EMR; support quality outcomes.

Make a Difference

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.

  • Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
  • Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
  • Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider's caseload
  • Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
  • Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
  • Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient's chief complaint and available protocols
  • Process referrals and medication refills
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
