Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Infectious Disease South/East clinics in Indianapolis. You will assist providers during patient visits, perform routine lab tasks, handle referrals, and contribute to quality outcomes for the practice population.

You will document care using the EPIC EMR system, perform Point of Care Testing per protocols, and help maintain smooth patient flow and positive team relationships across south and east locations.

Qualifications

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes.
• Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection

Participate in specialty care and infectious disease processes with sensitivity & compassion

• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills

Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
