Job summary

UNC Health Care's Family Medicine at Fuquay Varina is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work under clinical supervision of the provider and under the direction of the clinic manager/supervisor.

Responsibilities include rooming, data collection, vitals, phlebotomy, injections, and basic care tasks. A strong focus on teamwork and EMR data entry ensures smooth patient flow and care continuity.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position as outlined above.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers.
• Ability to use a computer to document required information into the electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vital signs, height, weight and visit data.
• Collect patient and family medical and social history.
• Review medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assist providers during treatments, exams and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Conduct tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
• Review records to determine need for routine screenings.
• Maintain exam rooms with supplies and educational materials.
