Job summary

UNC Faculty Physicians is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant II to join the Geriatrics Clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. The role includes vaccine and medication administration, phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care learning, and supporting aging patients with comprehensive primary care.

You will work with a team of geriatricians and clinical staff, handle rooming, specimen collection, and pre/post visit instructions. This is a full-time, onsite position offering UNC Health benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Assistant certification by a recognized certifying body (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum of one year full-time Medical Assistant experience.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming/intake, collects vital signs and visit data.
• Collects medical and social history from patient and family.
• Reviews current medications and allergies; confirms preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications as directed.
• Performs tests such as EKG and basic eye exams under supervision.
• Maintains exam rooms and ensures supplies/equipment readiness.
• Provides patient with post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepares, cleans, and stocks exam/treatment rooms.
• Sterilizes instruments and assists with registration and scheduling.
• Responds to clinic calls and assists in-basket as directed.
• Supports emergency situations as directed.
