Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. The role reports to a clinic supervisor and collaborates with the care team to ensure efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include vitals, data collection, medication review, phlebotomy, and assisting providers during procedures. A one-year MA experience and certified credentials are required; BLS is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program strongly preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of full-time Medical Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and/or intake with vitals collection.
• Collects medical and social history from patient.
• Reviews current medications, allergies and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and related specimen handling.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider supervision.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and are ready for visits.
• Provides post-visit instructions and patient education.
• Prepares and sterilizes instruments and cleans rooms.
• Assists with patient registration, check-in/out, scheduling and referrals.
• Answers clinic calls and assists in-basket under provider direction.
• Assists in emergencies as directed by clinician.
