Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to support outpatient clinic teams. You will room patients, collect data, assist with procedures, and manage specimen collection under provider supervision.

A strong emphasis on accurate EMR documentation and patient communication is essential. Required is a MA certification and at least one year of relevant experience; a CAHEP/ABHES-accredited program is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification as Medical Assistant from a national body is required.
• One year of full-time Medical Assistant, Certified experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake with vital signs and visit reason.
• Collect patient medical and social history data.
• Review current medications and allergies.
• Assist provider during treatments and procedures.
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Perform tests (EKG, eye exams) under supervision.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies.
• Assist with registration, scheduling, and referrals.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials.
