Job summary

Atlantic Health System seeks a Certified Medical Assistant I for the Gastroenterology clinic in Summit, NJ. This full-time, day-shift role supports patient intake, documentation, vital signs, specimen collection, and medication administration under physician supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with clinic visits, maintaining data quality, and guiding patients through the health care system while providing empathetic, patient-centered care. A structured benefit package is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.

Responsibilities

• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
• Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
• Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
• Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
• Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.

Education

Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field
