Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/CCMA) to support clinical procedures and patient prep for treatments or research protocols. You will assist physicians and healthcare staff with procedures and may perform basic clerical and lab duties.

The role serves patients from newborns to seniors and requires a pre-employment drug screen. Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, CMA or CCMA certification, and CPR certification (or within 30 days).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CMA or CCMA certification required.
• If certified by another agency, certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures to prepare patients/research participants for treatment or protocol.
• Assist physician or health care team with completion of treatment/protocol.
• Perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures per policy/protocol.
• May perform clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
• Respond to needs of patients from newborn to geriatric.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
