Job summary

WellMed South Austin is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care under physician supervision. The CMA will organize the clinical environment, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate documentation while upholding infection control and privacy standards.

Required: High school diploma, CMA certification or within 180 days, BLS at hire or within 30 days; strong communication and customer service skills, and ability to handle emergencies calmly. ICD-10/CPT knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Certification as Medical Assistant or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy with Excel.
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies and communicate effectively.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity documentation required.

Responsibilities

• Operates diagnostic equipment and assists physicians and nursing staff.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examinations.
• Maintains accurate and timely patient care documentation.
• Coordinates patient care per physicians and policy.
• Maintains infection control and confidentiality standards.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
