Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join Duke Children's and Internal Medicine North Durham in Durham, NC. You will be a vital member of the healthcare team providing direct and indirect patient care in a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, HS diploma or GED, and current CMA certification with BLS. Clinic hours are Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 with Saturday rotation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation is required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient intake including vital signs and visit information as indicated.
• Take telephone messages, document encounters, and inform the provider.
• Administer medications as ordered or per protocol following the six rights.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Assist with clinical procedures setup and sterilization per scope of practice.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
• Float within the clinic to cover patient and provider needs.

Education

Medical Assistant program (CAAHEP/ABHES accredited)

High school diploma or GED

CMA certification (AAMA/AMT/NHA-CCMA/NCMA/ARMA)
