Job summary

Duke Health’s GI Clinic of Durham is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our care team in Durham, NC. You will provide direct and indirect patient care, support clinical staff, and help coordinate exams and procedures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, complete CMA certification, and be comfortable working with a diverse patient population in a busy outpatient clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Level I — no experience; Level II — 1 year of clinical MA experience.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and record vital signs.
• Explain procedures and prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff during exams and procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic in-clinic tests.
• Take ECGs, remove sutures/staples, and manage dressings as directed.
• Document care in patient records and handle routine administrative duties.
