Job summary

Duke Health, based in Durham, NC, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join Duke Health North Durham Clinic. You will support direct patient care, perform routine administrative tasks, and assist healthcare teams to ensure efficient clinic operations.

The role requires CMA certification and progressive education levels; level II/III prefer 1–3 years clinical experience, with BLS; a commitment bonus of 7500 may be offered and relocation assistance is available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred; high school or GED graduation required.
• Level II/III CMA programs strongly preferred; high school or GED required.
• No experience required for Level I.
• Level II requires at least 1 year of clinical MA experience.
• Level III requires at least 3 years of clinical MA experience.
• 1 year of experience provided for an Associate degree in Medical Assisting.
• Certification by AAMA/AMT/NHA-CCMA/NCMA/ARMA required; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage registration and records.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assist physician during exams and procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Take electrocardiograms (ECG).
• Document care and coordinate with clinic staff.
• Maintain sterile technique and safety procedures.
