Job summary

Digestive Health Specialist of Tupelo is seeking a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant to join our team of gastroenterologists and allied professionals in Tupelo. You will perform routine patient check-ins, medication administration, phlebotomy, and help manage medical records with accuracy.

Ideal candidates have medical office experience and a valid BLS certification, with strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Previous experience in a medical office environment.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient check-in procedures, including patient work-ups and new patient history.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician.
• Perform phlebotomy for lab work and complete required forms.
• Approve prescriptions and communicate with pharmacies at direction of physicians.
• Assist in maintaining general medical records.
• Schedule patient appointments and other procedures in the computer as needed.
• Schedule outpatient x-rays and tests as needed.
