Job summary

Digestive Health Specialist of Tupelo, part of One GI, seeks an LPN/Medical Assistant to join a gastroenterology team dedicated to compassionate patient care in Tupelo, MS. The role emphasizes accurate vitals, medication administration, and supportive clinical duties.

The successful candidate will provide warm, positive interactions, maintain infection control, and collaborate with physicians to ensure dependable care for each patient.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved LPN program with active licensure, or Medical Assistant certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous MD office experience or clinical work required.

Responsibilities

• Gather focused assessment data (vital signs, LOC) and document observations.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician.
• Demonstrate use of equipment, specimen collection, and reading vital sign monitor.
• Identify and report abnormal findings to supervisor and physician.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Gather focused assessment data (i.e. vital signs, LOC), Accurately document all vital signs observations.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician.
• Demonstrate skill of equipment use, specimen collection, and reading the vital sign monitor.
• Identify and properly report abnormal findings to the supervisor and physician.
• Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed.
• Maintain par levels of supplies in work area. Check for expiration dates monthly.
• Assist in maintaining general medical records.
• Schedule patient appointments and other procedures in the computer as needed.
• Schedule outpatient x-rays and tests as needed.

The Must Haves

• Graduation from an approved LPN program. Must have active licensure and maintain licensure required, OR Medical Assistant certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous M.D. office experience or clinical work required.
• Priority setting, application of judgment, communication skill and tact, ability to complete necessary tasks in reasonable time frames. Organizational skills. Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in making decisions.
