Responsibilities

Under the direction of the healthcare provider, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering patient care that promotes safety and wellbeing. This includes performing preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respirations, among others.

• Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs and other relevant patient information.
• Collect blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis, if required.
• Administer medications and vaccines as ordered, via various routes.
• Perform routine tests, including EKGs.
• Schedule and follow up on diagnostic tests.
• Communicate test results and care plans to patients.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Document patient care, tests, and examination results accurately.
• Escalate non-routine issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure safety protocols and patient privacy are maintained.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience.

Required Licensure and Certifications

• Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or approved equivalent.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology.
• Sound judgment and composure in emergencies.
• Positive attitude towards patients.
• Proficiency with medical management software.

Pay Range

$15.56 - $21.40 per hour
