We are searching for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant at the TCP Houston Pediatrics Associates Clinic—someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course for health care providers
Certifications required:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA-AAM) from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) issued by one of the following organizations: American Association of Medical Personnel, American Allied Health, American Medical Technologists, or American Registry of Medical Assistants
- National Medical Assistant Certification (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from National Health Career Association (NHA)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
- EMT issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services
- EMT-Basic (EMT-B) issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services
- EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I) certification issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services
One (1) year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection of patient/family data, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information, following practice protocol
- Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with 100% accuracy
- Update documentation to include if the patient has received care at other locations since the last visit
- Prepare the patient for examination according to practice protocol
- Assist providers during treatments, examinations, and testing within scope of practice
- Complete treatments as directed by providers
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed by physicians per practice protocol
- Identify patients eligible for Vaccines for Children Program and follow procedures for documentation and management
- Document administration of medications and immunizations in the medical record
- Report medication and immunization errors immediately upon awareness
- Support patients and families in self-management through education
- Verify coverage with payers for referrals prior to initiation
- Document eligibility in electronic health records
- Collect specimens and perform laboratory tests
- Maintain certification by fulfilling continuing education requirements
