Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the healthcare provider, deliver patient care that promotes safety and wellbeing.
• Perform preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respirations as directed by protocols.
• Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs, allergies, medications, and presenting problems.
• Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis if required.
• Administer medications and vaccines via various routes.
• Perform routine tests like EKGs.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and follow up on completion.
• Communicate test results and care plans with patients.
• Maintain and sterilize instruments, keep exam rooms clean and stocked, dispose of contaminated items properly.
• Document patient care, tests, and examination results accurately.
• Escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
• Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
• Protect patient safety and privacy rights.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
• Medication Aide 40-hour course completion or current certification if applicable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Experience and Skills

• Preferably 1 year of experience.
• Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Sound judgment and ability to handle emergency situations.
• Positive attitude towards patients.
• Good computer skills with medical management applications.
• Strong work ethic and professionalism.
