Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring a Lactation Consultant RN to support breastfeeding education and private consultations across multiple AdventHealth facilities in the Orlando area.

The role requires an RN license and CLC certification, with BLS; NRP preferred. Travel to AdventHealth Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden, and Celebration is involved as part of a PRN schedule.

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• CLC certification is required.
• BLS CPR certification is required.
• NRP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in community breastfeeding education opportunities and outreach.
• Keeps supplies organized and reports needs to supervisor.
• Provides private consultations in lactation centers and answers help line.
• Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates outcomes.
• Provides accurate information to clients about breastfeeding and company policies.
• Attends staff meetings to stay updated on latest research and shares findings.

Job Description

Schedule: PRN

This role requires travel to AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Winter Park, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth Winter Garden, and AdventHealth Celebration

• Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.


• Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor.


• Works in various lactation centers, providing private consultations, answering the breastfeeding help line, facilitating weekly mother/baby luncheons, and selling breastfeeding products.


• Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes, collects evaluations, and makes necessary changes to improve classes.


• Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding and company policies and procedures.


• Attends staff meetings and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and shares information with colleagues and staff.

• Skill in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for the breastfeeding mother and baby acquired through 1-2 years of experience as a lactation consultant [Preferred]


• Current research information regarding Breastfeeding [Preferred]


• Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]


• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]


• Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]


• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]

Education

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]


• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]


• 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]


• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required]


• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]


• Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) [Preferred]
