Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse with lactation credentials to provide private consultations across AdventHealth Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden, and Celebration locations. This PRN role requires delivering breastfeeding education, coordinating classes, and supporting families in multiple centers.

You will travel between facilities as needed, participate in community education, and stay updated on current research while collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Florida (Required)
• BLS CPR certification (Required)
• CLC certification (Required)
• 1–2 years lactation experience (Preferred)
• Spanish language skills are a plus (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide private lactation consultations in multiple centers.
• Answer breastfeeding help line and support weekly mother/baby events.
• Educate clients on breastfeeding policies and procedures.
• Attend staff meetings to stay current with research findings.
• Prepare prenatal breastfeeding classes and collect evaluations.

Job Description

Schedule: PRN

This role requires travel to AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Winter Park, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth Winter Garden, and AdventHealth Celebration

• Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.


• Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor.


• Works in various lactation centers, providing private consultations, answering the breastfeeding help line, facilitating weekly mother/baby luncheons, and selling breastfeeding products.


• Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes, collects evaluations, and makes necessary changes to improve classes.


• Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding and company policies and procedures.


• Attends staff meetings and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and shares information with colleagues and staff.

• Current research information regarding Breastfeeding [Preferred]


• Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]


• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]


• Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]


• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]

Education

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]


• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]


• 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]


• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required]


• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]


• Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) [Preferred]
