Job summary

AdventHealth seeks a skilled Lactation Consultant (RN) to provide private consultations, breast feeding guidance, and education across AdventHealth Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden and Celebration locations.

You will lead prenatal classes, manage evaluations, and ensure accurate information aligns with policy while supporting families with compassionate, evidence-based care.

Qualifications

• RN licensed (Required)
• BLS CPR certification (Required)
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) (Required)
• NRP (Preferred)
• CBC (Preferred)
• 2+ maternity or newborn experience (Preferred)
• Ability to use interpreter services (Required)
• English communication skills (Required)
• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Collaborates in breastfeeding education for patients and families.
• Provides private lactation consultations across multiple AdventHealth locations.
• Answers breastfeeding help line and conducts weekly mother/baby events.
• Plans prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates programs for improvement.
• Shares up-to-date breastfeeding information and hospital policies with clients and staff.

Job Description:

This role requires travel to AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Winter Park, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth Winter Garden, and AdventHealth Celebration

• Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.
• Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor.
• Works in various lactation centers, providing private consultations, answering the breastfeeding help line, facilitating weekly mother/baby luncheons, and selling breastfeeding products.
• Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes, collects evaluations, and makes necessary changes to improve classes.
• Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding and company policies and procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and shares information with colleagues and staff.

• Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]
• Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]
• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]
• 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)[Preferred]
• Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC)[Preferred]
