Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL needs a Lactation Consultant RN to support breastfeeding education and private consultations across multiple AdventHealth facilities. This PRN role travels to AdventHealth Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden, and Celebration to reach families in need.

You will lead prenatal breastfeeding classes, answer the breastfeeding help line, and provide resources while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote the Whole Person Well-being approach.

Qualifications

• RN with active Florida license and BLS certification.
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) required.
• Experience in lactation consulting and hospital settings.
• Willingness to travel to AdventHealth facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide private breastfeeding consultations across centers.
• Answer the breastfeeding help line and support weekly mother/baby luncheons.
• Sell breastfeeding products and educate clients on resources and policies.
• Plan and present prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluate programs for improvements.
• Provide accurate information to clients about breastfeeding and company policies.
• Attend staff meetings and stay updated on the latest research in lactation.

Job Description

Schedule: PRN

This role requires travel to AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Winter Park, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth Winter Garden, and AdventHealth Celebration

• Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.


• Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor.


• Works in various lactation centers, providing private consultations, answering the breastfeeding help line, facilitating weekly mother/baby luncheons, and selling breastfeeding products.


• Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes, collects evaluations, and makes necessary changes to improve classes.


• Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding and company policies and procedures.


• Attends staff meetings and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and shares information with colleagues and staff.

• Current research information regarding Breastfeeding [Preferred]


• Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]


• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]


• Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]


• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]

Education

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]


• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]


• 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]


• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required]


• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]


• Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) [Preferred]
