Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a forklift operator to load and unload materials, build balanced loads, and move items within yard or job sites. You will read work orders, handle labeling, and ensure safe transport while following safety guidelines.

Must have GED or high school diploma and forklift certification. Work is performed in a yard or warehouse environment with physical demands including lifting up to 80 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 3 months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Forklift certification required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials onto pallets, trucks or customer vehicles and secure with strapping or padding.
• Perform load-building, ensuring correct weight, composition and placement for safe hauling.
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials to be moved.
• Move materials between storage and designated areas using hand trucks, electric dollies, forklifts or other devices.
• Open containers and loads using hand tools; attach tags or labels for proper identification.
• Adhere to safety procedures and participate in safety meetings; suggest safety improvements when appropriate.
• Other duties may be assigned.
