Forward Air Corporation in Tampa, FL is seeking a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, and move freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE. The role requires forklift certification, 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience, and strong English communication skills.

This position demands the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance, plus flexibility for varied shifts including nights and weekends. Base pay is $18.66 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to learn and use basic computer systems, handheld scanners, and freight-tracking devices.
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallets, dollies, hand trucks, order pickers, pallet riders, conveyors, and forklifts (with training).
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs regularly; up to 75 lbs with assistance.

Responsabilités

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy.
• Identify and report damaged freight or unsafe conditions to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and inspect equipment.
