Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Qualified Elevator Inspector to perform comprehensive inspections of elevators, escalators, and related conveyance systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes as well as ASME standards. The role demands meticulous documentation, accurate reporting, and ongoing professional development.

Travel to client sites is required; candidates must maintain a valid QEI certification and state licenses.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current QEI certification issued by NAESA, QEITF, or NAEC.
• Must obtain and maintain state/local AHJ licenses for the territory.
• Solid knowledge of ASME codes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient with laptops/tablets for inspection reports and portals.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of elevators and other conveyance systems to code.
• Conduct various inspection types per jurisdictional requirements.
• Identify violations and document findings with corrective actions.
• Submit timely inspection reports to AHJ, owners, and internal teams.
• Explain code requirements clearly to owners, contractors, and regulators.
• Provide guidance on code-related issues to field personnel and clients.
• Maintain safety and integrity while upholding professional standards.
• Stay current on codes, regulations, and best practices.
• Complete continuing education and maintain QEI certification.
• Support additional inspections and expand client relationships.
