Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) to perform comprehensive inspections of elevators and related conveyances, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local codes and ASME standards.

The role involves field inspections, documenting violations, and communicating findings to contractors, owners, and regulators. A valid QEI certification and applicable AHJ licenses are required. Occasional travel and after-hours work may be needed to meet client schedules.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current QEI certification issued by NAESA, QEITF, or NAEC.
• Must obtain and maintain state/local AHJ licenses applicable to territory.
• Demonstrated knowledge of elevator and conveyance industry principles and inspection procedures.
• Strong understanding of ASME codes, local ordinances, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of elevators, escalators, moving walks, and other conveyance systems to ensure compliance with codes.
• Conduct various inspections (acceptance, annual, periodic, alteration, repair) per ASME standards and jurisdictional requirements.
• Document findings thoroughly, identify violations, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit inspection reports to AHJ, owners, and internal teams.
