Job summary

The City of Spokane is seeking a qualified Boiler/Pressure Vessel Inspector to perform skilled technical inspections ensuring compliance with building and zoning codes in the Spokane area.

The role requires NB certification and Washington State commissioning within six months, plus a valid driver’s license. You will review plans, inspect installations, advise on regulations, and maintain inspection schedules and records in city databases.

Qualifications

• Must be SB&BPV certified by the National Board.
• Must be commissioned by Washington State as boiler/pressure vessel inspector within six months of appointment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Investigates boiler accidents to determine causes and recommends repairs.
• Inspects boilers, pressure vessels and related equipment for necessary repairs and approves/disapproves repairs.
• Reviews blueprints for code compliance on new installations and inspects completed work.
• Advises builders, contractors and owners on regulations and methods for boilers.
• Monitors hydrostatic testing and weld qualifications for pressure vessels.
