Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Labor seeks a Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspector (S) to enforce the Uniform Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act, NCAC Title 13, and associated codes. You will inspect boilers and pressure vessels, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance across facilities in the state.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and four years of related boiler/vessel experience; driver’s license is required, with preference for National Board In-Service Commission and NC

Qualifications

• Must obtain two certifications within the first 9 months of employment by passing required examinations.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the Uniform Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act and NC Administrative Code; inspect boilers and pressure vessels for compliance with codes and standards.
• Conduct investigations as assigned by the Division and perform related duties.
• Interpret and apply rules and regulations for fabrication, installation and maintenance of boilers and pressure vessels.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Four years of boiler & pressure vessel experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience

Valid North Carolina driver’s license

National Board In-Service Inspector Commission (preferred)

NC Inspector Commission (must obtain within 9 months)
