Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Storage Operations Engineer to build, maintain, and operate Vultr Cloud Storage environments. The role focuses on Ceph-based, software-defined storage with Linux, virtualization, and Kubernetes proficiency.

You will drive stability, scalability, and cost efficiency in a high-growth cloud infrastructure. You will develop automation, optimize monitoring, and collaborate across networks and operations for capacity planning.

Qualifications

Proficient with Linux distros (CentOS/RHEL/Debian/Ubuntu).
Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts.
Experience scripting in Python or similar languages; automation experience.
Hands-on with configuration management/tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Responsibilities

Continually improve Ceph-based Cloud Storage for stability and cost efficiency.
Design and participate in architecture decisions for Ceph storage deployments.
Develop automation for Ceph-based storage infrastructure and workflows.
Enhance metrics collection, monitoring, and alerting for storage systems.
Collaborate with Network and Operations teams for capacity planning and maintenance.
Research new storage features and operational methodologies to drive efficiency.
