Job summary

Vultr is seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer to harden and scale the infrastructure powering Vultr's global cloud platform. The ideal candidate has deep experience in Kubernetes, container runtimes, and infrastructure automation.

This role is security-minded and cross-functional, requiring hands-on work across CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident response to improve reliability and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes administration and internals (scheduler, kubelet, CRDs).
• Proficiency in Go and scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation and tooling.
• Deep knowledge of container security, including image scanning and runtime isolation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade automation using Ansible, Terraform, and Go.
• Develop and enhance core services behind VKE, VLB, VCR, and Inference.
• Engage deeply with Kubernetes internals (scheduler, kubelet, CRDs).
• Design and improve container runtime integrations (containerd, runc, OCI).
• Architect CI/CD improvements and deployment pipelines for large-scale systems.
• Troubleshoot networking, load balancing, and distributed systems issues.
• Harden platform infrastructure with security best practices (image signing, admission controllers).
• Contribute to Vultr's open-source ecosystem (terraform provider, crossplane, vultr-cli, govultr).
• Improve reliability, observability, and operability of cloud-native services.
