Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Central Tech Services Engineer. This position provides technical support to the HF Sinclair Navajo Refinery located in Artesia, NM. The role and the CTS Team deliver support specific to Process Engineering and Refinery Technical Services.

Job Duties

• Provides discipline-specific engineering assistance, direction, and development support to colleagues.
• Solves technical problems related to projects, troubleshoots, and updates report data for business units.
• Upgrades, designs, configures, maintains, and monitors related equipment and performance.
• Analyzes components, systems, processes, and refinery economics.
• Develops project scopes, budgets, and AFEs for approval, ensuring projects meet budget and safety standards.
• Maintains the integrity of business unit data.
• Optimizes operations and analyzes data to aid decision-making.
• Stays updated on discipline-specific topics, innovations, and developments.
• Develops systems for testing documentation and system maintenance.

May also be required to:

• Coordinate, facilitate, and document Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and incident investigations.
• Provide training on PHA, Incident Investigation, MOC, PHAs, and PSSR.
• Participate in safety audits and LOPA reviews, supporting process safety improvements.
• Update the Refinery Risk Management Program.
• Design plant equipment and processes for chemical manufacturing.
• Research and develop improved manufacturing processes.
• Plan layout for commercial-scale processes.
• Implement processing controls to meet quality and cost standards.
• Investigate work-in-process issues and recommend improvements.
• Review proposals for equipment purchase or modernization.
• Assist with clean fuel projects and profitability improvements.
• Design and execute plant modifications and additions.
• Act as liaison with regulatory agencies.

Experience

Minimum five years of progressive engineering experience. Strong understanding of refinery processes and process safety is required. Power distribution and controls experience is necessary for electrical discipline. Preferred: PE registration, refinery or petrochemical experience, FCC, CCR, Alky, MHC, Crude units experience.

Education Level

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.

Required Skills

Project management, engineering knowledge, technology awareness, effective communication, mathematical skills, teamwork, and familiarity with process hazard analysis are essential. Preferred: experience with engineering software.

Supervisory Responsibility

May supervise personnel and contractors.

Work Conditions

Office and plant work, up to 10% travel, outdoor conditions, various weather.
