Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join our sterile processing team. You will maintain standards for assembly, decontamination, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, and prepare sterile instrument sets for cases.

You will collaborate with Perioperative Nursing staff to ensure timely delivery of instrument sets and supplies, while maintaining continuous workflow and delivering excellent customer service to surgical teams.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech program or CST alternative with 3 years sterile experience.
• No CST certificate required if you have CST-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain standards for assembly, decontamination, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Sterilize, assemble, and store medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborate with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts.
• Contribute to a smooth workflow and deliver superior customer service.

Responsibilities:

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
