Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join our perioperative team. You will maintain standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, and sterilization of instruments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

You will collaborate with Perioperative Nursing to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts, support workflow, and deliver outstanding service to our patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Technology program is required.
• If CST certificate is not held, 3 years of Central Sterile experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Education

HS Diploma or GED Required

Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Program Required

In lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years Central Sterile experience Required

• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
