Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to maintain standards for instrument sterilization and carting, supporting perioperative teams, and ensuring timely availability of sterile supplies.

Required education includes a high school diploma or GED; CST certificate or 3 years of CST experience preferred. Certification options and ongoing training provided.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required; CST training/experience preferred.
• Graduate of Central Sterile Tech program or equivalent CST experience is acceptable.
• CST certification preferred; CCST certified is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts.
• Supports workflow and delivers superior customer service to clinical teams.

Responsibilities

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
